When camping, you must expect a fair amount of down time. there is no TV, often no cell service or electricity etc. For some people this is a real benefit because it is refreshing aand healing to be away from the technical side of current life. Whether you are beginner campers or veteran campers you will appreciate a list of things to do while tent or camper camping on rainy afternoons and low key times.
LIIST OF CAMPING ACTIVITIES
1). Go for a hike
2). Have a scavenger hunt for natural items. Some suggestions to find are:
a) A specific kind of leaf eg. aspen, maple, oak etc.
b) Small smooth round stone
c) A wildflower of any kind or color
d) A stick to make a walking stick
e) Small pieces of wood for the campfire
f) Pine cone
g) A piece of litter
h) Fossils
i) A feather
3). Have a scrabble or playing card marathon
4). Geocaching. Geocaching takes some planning but is very fun. It involves finding or hiding a small waterproof container with small treasures in it. The treasures usually are things that people don't want anymore,
yet may be useful or bring some joy to the finder. You may take items from a cache that you found but you must replace each item taken with something that you have.
This activity requires an instrument that tracks GPS such as a Garmin Handheld. Sometimes your phone will be adequate. You can do geocaching all over the world.
5). Gather enough firewood for your evening campfire.
6). Read a book. Few people have time to read for pleasure. This is an excellent time to do just that.
7). If you are near a lake or river going fishing is a great pastime loved and enjoyed by many.
8). The most popular activity for some is to Take A Nap!!!
